For things where you will only EVER get one attempt, then both failure and success are permenent for that situation.

Otherwise, Failure is temporary. Success is permanent. If you screw something up, you're likely to have a chance to correct it later removing the failure and replacing it with success.

I don't think my views on this are philosophical enough though :/
