On a related note, I like it better when the anime fades into the ED smoothly. The song plays subtly over the last few seconds of the episode, then leads into the ED itself.
On the other end of the spectrum, toradora, which imo has the most elegant endings for every single episode and fits with the song which in itself is so dynamic so if any situation is going on, it doesn't feel weird when the song comes on.
