See, don't know about you 'male' character Night Lords, but for my 'female' Night Lord, I used a top and bot. Mind you, a lv 50 top (scrolled for LUK) and bot (for DEX), and I use a Craven. I have like uhhhh 70 DEX or something though, I really need to down that.
7 x 3 = 21 x 2 => 42 total stats, excluding base stats. ex: Top is 5 LUK / 2 DEX, bot: 2 LUK / 1 DEX, 42 + 5 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 52 stats total. About the same as a 'perfect' scrolled sauna/bathrobe.

I say, with the current advances of this game, I really don't see a point in using a Craven IF you have money to blow like there's no tomorrow. Most NLs these days can afford a Reverse-claw. I only stuck with my Craven because I like the color of the claw (yes, I'm not joking..), that and it's near 70 attack.
Typical NL gear is something like:
17-19 att SCG (ex: I have a 17 att scg)
Scrolled zhelm back in the days
Top + bot OR overall (around 35-45 points of stats would suffice)
10+ att PAC
FS (if you're low dex, scroll for DEX, otherwise, chaos-scroll away)
15+ DEX earrings
I can't remember what else, uh, I'll edit this later.
