Grog, what you went through is a "cool down period". I'm tempted to whip out the chapter of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei that parodies this, but I'll refrain from doing so. (Chapter 38, if you wanna know the chapter)
In any case, when you first see something new and interesting, something that your eyes really stick to, you'll be wanting it simply because of it's hype at the time. However, as time goes on, that hype dies down. You've had time to think through it a bit, and the hype died down.
I'm sure the same thing will happen with Evan. Right now everyone is soiling their trousers for a mage class that actually has decent damage when it comes to single target. After months pass, there will still be people joining up for it, but I doubt Evan will get nearly as much praise by then than it's getting right now.
As for myself, I'm usually the type of person who doesn't really follow everyone and ends up liking something after it's hype has already passed. Arans don't seem to interest me and haven't from the start. I plan on just making my Aran to 50 or whatever for the ring (if we're even getting it) and then pretty much using it as a mule. Maybe when I'm bored I'll decide to get on it and boost it for some blessing on Four, but that's all I plan on doing with it.
