I strongly disagree. They HAVE an insanely strong ultimate. 750 base attack at max AND 135% Amp? Bishops come close with 670 base attack Genesis, but they don't have Amp - not to mention other buffs, mastery things, and crit skills Evans have.
Plus, creating a Magician class that's not based solely around ultimates would be a good thing. We get so much hate right now for those skills that having a Mage good at single target DPS, party skills, and a decent mobber for training purposes would completely revolutionize the playing field. I think many would agree when I say I'd love to see a Magician class that mobs well with a combination of fast skills, can contribute unique and useful buffs to parties, has 1+ single target skills with DPS that makes them worthwhile at bosses, and has an amazingly powerful ultimate to use for occasional mobbing purposes (like HT). To be quite honest, Dark Fog as it is now is the PERFECT boss mob skill for HT, PB, and other high-end bosses that spawn occasional swarms of mobs.
In the end? Keep Dark Fog as is, speed up their skills, increase the base attack of single targets to get them a tad stronger, and make sure later skills don't replace current ones. Then you've got yourself a very well-rounded, useful Magician class.
