and its not really about religion, it's just a strategy, none of the muslim countried gave a dam for the palestinians and the "hostile jewish take-over" (oh yeah, we were so mean, we bought their land with our money, and we built our own cities, and we won in wars they started, that's so evil) until they made it religious.
which also helps them recruit, just like the crusades, only less successfull.
