Quantum Theory states that everytime a decision is made, an alternative universe is created. When you picked you nose in 3rd grade, that July 4th and 3:57 PM, there's a universe where you didn't.
As such, anything that could have happened did. So the universe has been destroyed many times in the past 100 years- just not ours.

current life expectency for us is about 100 years, and advances in cell regeneration, aging slowing/reversing, and health are improving rapidly, so it's not too far fetched to think we'll live to see 2208.
