Do you run Windows? Because you don't own that.

Microsoft stats, along with ALOT of other companies like Adobe, that you do not "own" the software, but are rather allowed to use it.

Blizzard stated the same thing with WoW, you do not "own" your account, Blizzard does, but you are "allowed" to use it.

So nothing new! They do it to have control over it in case of situations of some sort.
