A Vocaloid song is only as good as its composer. Comparing a song composed by a novice to a song composed by an expert would be an obvious handicap. You can give them the exact same instruments, but if they don't know what to do with them they aren't going anywhere. If someone was good enough, they could compose a variety of songs using the same instruments, rather than just one specific type of tune.
By the way, I hate when people compare Luka's voice to Len's as well. But I haven't seen much of that, just in youtube comments occasionally. But most comments on youtube for this kind of stuff is crap anyway, so I'm not bothered much by that.
Edit: By the way, I'd like to add that I do believe there is a lack of good songs from Len exclusively. But that by no means makes him a bad Vocaloid. So it's not as if I don't see where you're coming from.
