who's this girl?

Yeah, it's a quickie. Only took me something like 4-5 hours to read in its entirety. It's nothing like reading When They Cry or Fate/Stay Night, which are monsters (not a bad thing). Haven't read Clannad, and I never will.

The When They Cry series wasn't too long of a read. There aren't choices, so you don't have to start from the first scene again and hold the skip button for about an hour before you get on a storyline you haven't read yet.

There's a correct way to get the full-story for the game. But I'm not doing that. I'm going to play it how 'I' would personally react to each individual girls. So I'm probably doing Kyou or Kotomi early on (if possible).

I never read guides, defeats the whole purpose for me. So I know exactly where you're coming from. Just go with the flow, bro.

i just want to know why the hell she's surrounded by such gore, really. o-o
i mean, im not foreign to seeing cute girls surrounded by eldritch beings and such, but, come on, it looks like she was part of the gelatinous blob extruding from her legs.

Okay, I can explain a bit without spoiling the story. The main character of Saya no uta is Fuminori. Fuminori is a guy that, after an accident, had experimental brain surgery performed on him. However, the surgery changed his perspective completely. All he sees in his world is gore. A normal wall looks like a wall is covered with blood and organs to him. Even humans look different to him. All his friends look like hideous monsters. After a while, it even invades his other senses. He can't eat normal food without it tasting disgusting. His nostrils are constantly assaulted by a vile stench. He can actually feel the disgusting world around him.

However, he keeps it a secret as best he can. He knows that if he ever voices his problem, that he'd be institutionalized, possibly as some test subject. So he tries his best to play it off as if the surgery was a success. He lives every day of his life enduring a never ending nightmare. Then, one day, he meets Saya. The only person he's able to actually "see". The only person who actually looks human. Who actually talks like a human. who feels human.

When you see Saya covered with gore and blood, it's because most scenes in the VN look pretty much like this:





Saya is the only reason the main character even endures his daily hell. She's the shining light in his world of darkness.

Explaining any more into dept would ruin the story. If you want I could give you links to read it yourself, it's not a long read and certainly worth it.
