There are dozens of parties- no one likes them though.
If we had three, or four, or 10 main parties (and thus candidates), then they could win elections with only 11% of the total vote. That could be remedied by making each election a tournament-style system of elimination, but that would make our government even slower then it already is.
Don't get me wrong, slow can be good, but it can be bad too. There are times when you just don't have 12 months to do a full election. :|
More funders also... so criticism about how corporations play too big a role in American Policy Making would have more ground/be more popular.
Personally, I'd prefer a system where people aren't labeled. A lot of people will vote for someone because of their party, with no or little regard to their policies. I suppose you could fix that by making Voting a privilege (not that it isn't one now) granted to those who take a competence test about policies, economics, and other important grounds- I really don't like a country where you can vote via flipping a coin.
