Sounds like Windows cannot read a file and it reboots. I've ran into this problem a ton at work.
However, you can still recover the data using a USB stick by loading a Preinstalled Windows CD like BartPE, or you can use one of the Linux live distros.
However, after backing up, I suggest replacing the Hard Drive with a new one.
