Interesting; last I check people debate here all the time. Want to read what I say for once? The last quote I had defines this: debating is fun; conversation otherwise is boring. I'm not going to fore go challenging controversies and defending my contentions just because people are too incompetent to communicate without sarcasm.

I lol'd. Can't say I've read the last few pages that led to this, but that only kinda helps my point, but the fact that I'm making a point undermines my point, riddle me that.

When we "debate" - and you're right, we frequently do... sort of - it's generally with the understanding that we won't be changing any minds through reason and evidence, or anything else. No one should take anyone very seriously, and therefore anything they say. It's really just a fun-flavored clusterpineapple of us passing the time with a whole bunch of

style arguments and ad hominids, frequently at the expense of people who don't pick up on this or go out of their way to make asses of themselves (i.e. shroum and mars respectively) which really doesn't make it debate at all.
