It's amazing what the human mind is capable of.
I read a story of a woman in Wisconsin who got in a car crash while teaching her son to drive. The car fell over on the drivers side. The mom was able to jump out the top, but the son was trapped in the vehicle under the steering wheel column and couldn't move his feet out. The mom leaped out of the car, pushed the car over, ripped the car door off, and saved her son.
Adrenaline - it's a powerful thing. People that believe they can do something are far more likely to actually accomplish it than those who don't. That's why athletes try to beat each other psychologically first.
