I like to cook, with things that I can taste to some extent. With my sense of taste on a meal, I can only usually taste an overpowering taste that overpowers everything else.
i.e., spaghetti. I can only taste sauce. Even if I put loads of parmeson (Gosh, I just realized I don't know how to spell that...) cheese on it, I can only taste the sauce. Is one actually able to taste the sauce, noodles, and cheese in the dish of spaghetti? I've always just put the cheese on because it 'looks better'; not tastes better.
I can taste somewhat; just generally one thing overpowers the rest of everything in the dish.

Congratulations for you!!!!! I'm so happy to hear this surgery is so soon - I hope, pray, and KNOW everything will go well. You will LOVE food - we all promise!
Oh, and about the spaghetti question - you will taste the cheese and the sauce, and yes, you can taste the noodles. Most noodles do have a distinct taste in the way bread has a taste in a sandwich. It's not the "nothingness" taste of water, but the starchy substance taste that you get from carbohydrates. Oh, and also to people who say noodles have no flavor, you just haven't had the right noodles yet ;D. I've had chocolate noodles, squid ink noodles, and sun dried tomato basil noodles before, to name a few - and those are NOODLES, not sauces.
