Now the thing with GIF animations is that not only do GIFs rape picture quality due to limited palettes (in a typical format), but transparency options are lacking. You could make them look good for a single website background color, but what if there's 5 people using different skins of varying color? You have issues there. APNGs on the other hand use lossless compression and support full alpha scaling/channel, and this is why I luv APNGs. (their file size would be smaller too if the offset values actually worked >_>, but these ones are small anyways, so it's economical compared to GIFs this time)
