What would you do? How would you feel? What if you didn't know any different?Anosmia definition.
I for one, have always been Anosmic for as long as I can remember. I can only smell extremely potent things (Pretty much online gasoline at a gas station, sewage, pot, etc; no 'good' smelling stuff). My sense of taste suffers as well; give me a blindfold, a potato, and an apple, and I won't be able to taste the difference. Food to me is just something to do to pass time; it doesn't really taste; it's just texture and something that I HAVE to do.
Not only does my nose not function sense-wise; it doesn't function breathing-wise. I didn't know people could breathe through their noses until I was about 10. I knew something was wrong, but I didn't really complain. I was a stupid kid then. I recently went to the doctor, and am getting it fixed next week.
If you had only one more week of pretty much no taste, or no smell, what would you do? How would you spend your last moments? How would you react to people that you were acquaintances with, but then you suddenly find out that they smell; would you avoid them?
What would be some of the first things you would go to smell that you have never truly smelled before? A rose? What would be among the first things that you would eat? Do you think you would still like your 'favorite textured foods'?
I'm actually quite worried about what the smelling, tasting world will bring. Will it bring me more favorite foods, or will it draw me away from my current, tasteless favorite foods? Will I avoid certain people that smell bad? Will I be drawn to people that smell good?
Just thinkin'; ya' know?
