i don't give two flying sh'its if you don't like pokemon, at least make your argument relevant.

It's relevant because Pokemon did not just put out a card game or video games. The genius of their marketing scheme was to put really big entries into every medium noticed by children -- cartoons, card games, video games, toys, "freebies" in fast-food restaurants, etc. The games are not separate from the card game because a lot of people do both, and a lot of people get hooked on one by doing the other.
