Unlike videogames, D&D is more about guidelines for an entertaining experience that you can adapt or improvise upon. The unpredictable nature of how a session unfolds is part of the fun. On the other hand, videogames are a guided experience with only the illusion of freedom. Open worlds in videogames still have boundaries that can never be crossed.
D&D videogames are primarily made to take care of number-crunching and other nitpicky details that get in the way of having fun with D&D.
