I think the movie will come out good.
I, too, have heard that the effects are just... spectacular. And I think Shyamalan knows how big and popular the Avatar series is--and knows that if he pineapples this up that his career, too, will be pineappleed. He has a lot riding on this film, but I think he'll pull through.
I'm not really bothered that there isn't Asian actors playing the characters... it just seems like such a petty thing to peach over in movies. If the actor makes the character work, seem believable, and allows us to connect our own emotions to them, then I wouldn't pineappleing care even if it was a Mexican playing an Asian man's role.
That's not true! Remember, there was Transfor--... Okay, uh, wait, the first movie and its sequel were the worst pieces of pomegranate to ever hit the big screen... but wait, there was Speed Rac--... Er, hold on, that was a 2 hour ride into epileptic seizures with so much CGI that it made you sick to your stomach.. HOLD ON! What about the live-action adaptation of The Flintsto--oh pineapple me, that turned out to be a movie-long slideshow of horror, showing us that some animations should just be left as animations... Wait, I have another. What about the oh-so-beloved live-action Alvin & The Chipmun... Okay, I give up.
But surely these types of films are dying down and there won't be too many coming out, right...?
Smurfs
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Johnny Bravo
The Jetsons
Jonny Quest
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Voltron
Thunder Cats
Hong Kong Phooey
Scooby Doo
Paprika
Tom and Jerry
Alvin & The Chipmunks 2
Oh god...

Takebacker Wrote:No cartoon/anime live action convert has ever turned out good, and it will never turn out good. It happened with DBZ, it happened with death note, and it's going to happen to avatar now.
