Dusk Wrote:Rapid Fire doesn't kill faster than Fire/Ice. When my ship breaks I use Air Strike + Burst Fire mostly, but I still use Fire/Ice on mobs. Fire/Ice outdamages Burst Fire on mobs. Rapid Fire is barely 50% stronger than Burst Fire when spamming; Maxed Elemental Boost increases the damage of Fire/Ice by 150%.A neat trick I found is that Rapid Fire works slightly differently than Hurricane. Arrows cannot be shot in the air, so when you jump Hurricane you see a whole lot of flashy nothing. However, if you jump Rapid Fire you continue to shoot bullets in the air. I've found this great for approaching and getting around. Though I do agree there are a few situations where I wish I could use Bust Fire. Even so, I give a huge endorsement to Rapid Fire, especially if you HT often (it's easy to keep your boat alive at Zak).
I never use Rapid Fire when training because you can't use it in midair, and jump/recoiling while using Burst Fire is far superior to walk-RFing, especially when you have less than 110% speed (can't Dash while RF-ing obviously). Also I might actually need to expand my inventory to hold bullets. Right now I get by with 7 sets, which lasts over 4 hours.
So I think it's mostly between MW and Boost. How much of a difference does MW make when soloing?
You said somewhere else (I think sleepywood) that you solo a lot, right? I was able to 2HKO the monsters in Oblivion 2 fairly consistently around the time Hammers came out. I train with someone that has SE, so that helped a lot; but needless to say I don't think I would have 2hko'd at all without MW. As for "how much" of a boost it is, just take it at face value. It'll be pretty much 10% more damage after everything is accounted for, and that's nothing to sneeze at.
I personally am thinking of doing Air Strike next, then Octo. I'll ask more about it later, but Octo is pretty awesome. So is Air Strike and Boost. So many good skills, so little SP!
