"An eye for an eye" is really a bad policy. All it does is double the amount of damage done. It doesn't solve anything, it just shows that we are every bit as inhumane as the people we are condemning. The death penalty should be reserved for extreme circumstances like for mass murderers and serial rapists. There are many people who don't deserve death just because they made bad choices.
I don't know about other countries, but the American legal system makes it way too complicated to sentence someone to death, and the amount of appealing you can do and the length of time the average person sits on death row is ridiculous. I just don't support the death penalty as it is.
Also, there is nothing wrong with being a pedophile. Yes, most of us find it gross, but as long as they are not actually abusing children it's okay.
