I think that's an iPhone property. The same happens on the iPod Touch (except it's 1 minute, 5 minutes, then I don't know how long).

I switched from Verizon to AT&T 3 years ago and SIM locked my phone, thinking that, like Verizon, you can test an unlimited number of codes (Verizon doesn't utilize SIM cards and I facepalmed). I fried my SIM and got a new one. Lol.
