Disclaimer: I'm not aware if anyone already knew about this or not. I'm posting because I'm shocked this actually got fixed after so long. 
Well.. I was on my way to revive my beloved monkey when I came across Jay. I was thinking, "O what the hay, I think I shall click the book above Jay's head to see if nexon fixed his dilema of almost two years." To my suprise they did just that. The quest could be completed right there on the spot.
Here's a SS of it in my completed quests:
The sad thing however they got a bit lazy when fixing this quest. They just wrapped it up in a short conversation instead of going on with the quest like we all knew it did. ON THE OTHER HAND: At least we don't have to bloody carry around the shell anymore.
