LPQ: KMS in Stage 8?
#1
Would someone please explain to me how KMS is "faster"?
'Cause through my logic, the KMS method is just as good as the GMS method.

Say there were 50 combinations. A random one is selected. The first person goes through each combination, going from combination 1 to combination 50. Then a second person decides to do the even combinations, and then go back and do the odd ones. (Note that this isn't exactly the KMS method, but it works for my example.)

Now of course, both people have to search through 50 different combinations, but the only thing that decides who gets it right faster is what combination it actually is. Skipping around doesn't reduce the number of combinations.

This would be assuming that they went through each combination at the same speed of course. And the way people do KMS in Stage 8, it's definitely the same speed. The JMS method, on the other hand, allows people to change boxes quicker. It takes advantage of jump down, and the diagonal setup of boxes 2, 5, and 9. It would probably be more beneficial than skipping around like the KMS method does.

So why are people so into the KMS method, really?
