umm...I have too many "old" characters. My interests kept shifting as new jobs came out. I usually gravitate toward classes with more skills and variety in gameplay.
I've changed around way too many times. I was a claw rogue in Beta, got bored with that immediately and made an F/P, remade both in Scania for some reason, started a Fighter in Bera...
my first real "main" would probably be my CB, though. In 2nd job EVERY job is a spam fest, so there wasn't really the idea of comboing or chaining attacks back then. I only got it to 3rd job before I quit MS, but it was the first time I actually spent a lot of time on one thing. Would I go back to that? Probably not. I didn't enjoy the 3rd job very much. It was way too difficult to train at Ludi as a CB back in the day. I felt pathetically weak. I've been wanting a Shadower since 4th job came out, but haven't really gotten around to making one. Not going to restart the CB, since the stats are all messed up.
I think my only other "main" would be my BM, which I started after I returned to MS in early 2007. I do not like BMs. I made a Ranger because I like Fire and I enjoyed the variety of mob skills Rangers have (Bomb/Rain/Inferno). I had a lot of good memories with Goby parties. I don't care what people say, though: Inferno was pretty awesome back then before we had good Rain spots like Pirates/Typhons, Bomb got improved, and SE existed. I really enjoyed the idea of setting up a Puppet out of reach behind me as I held down a mob with Inferno. It was cool setting up mobs and sniping positions with Puppet and a lot of fun in general.
4th job ruined it for me, though, which sounds super weird for most people. Sure, BMs are actually a good class, while Rangers are pretty low-tier in terms of usefulness, but that's not what I want out of my character. I HATE Hurricane. I don't care if it's super flashy. I jump-shot too much, which only makes you look retarded with Hurricane. SE and BE aren't enough to make all the mob skills any good, either, leaving BMs sitting next to NLs as the worst 4th job mobbers. I like mobbing (not ulti spam, though - I like moving around too). Not going back to that.
tl;dr: I quit my old characters because MS keeps evolving. Classes I found fun back in the day became uninteresting to play as a new job came out or training spots shifted. Right now I'm loving my Corsair and my Blaze Wizard.
