Here's my advice:
If you know that you'll still fall short, even after selling the spear (hammer'd or not), then I suggest sticking to Sky Skis.
Also, here's another thing: Your Sky Skis that you have will probably be the godsend of your life - you have the ability to deal a higher DPS than others who use Slow (7/8) spears for quite a long time (however, do note that godly-scrolled Slow 7/8 spears will overtake a Sky Ski eventually, but that's like a long shot). And hence this is why I'm feverishly hunting for a Sky Ski right now because of its sexy DPS ability.
If you wish to have something rare and unique, and have no use for the Sky Skis, as well as having everything ready, be my guest and go make the Reverse spear.
P.S. Can I have that Sky Ski? Lol jk =P
