Urgent Help. My computer will not perform regular computer actions.

Yes, I've been having major computer problems today. It all started with lag on Maple Story, then it got out of control. It froze while on MS, so i unplugged it and restarted it. Everything was fine until I put it in sleep mode. (I always use sleep mode during the day instead of leaving it on, cause it saves lots of energy and I don't want to keep turning it off and on during the day). So I come back online later and move my mouse to get out of sleep mode. It froze in sleep mode. Unplugged, restarted. Froze while restarting. Unplugged and restarted again. This time it doesn't freeze and I have enough time to do a spyware/adware check. No spyware/adware. Then I put my comp in sleep mode again; freezes. Unplugged restarted. This time I try to defragment. It says ' The computer cannot perform this action.' Then I try to to scan for the attempt to repair bad sectors. Same sentence pops up. Please if any of you can help, it'd be greatly appreciated, as I can't afford a new computer or some guy to come over and fix it for me.
