I've only been in 3 guilds total (excluding a mule guild some friends made while bored), 2 of them currently.
The reason why I'm in a guild is for friends. It's a lot like an extended buddy list. It's nice to have friends to talk to to keep my attention, otherwise I'd probably log off pretty quickly. Each guild I was in, I was/is good friends with at least a few people in the guild before joining, and I stay because it's nice to have friends to play the game with that are my level or close. It's also really good for meeting new people.
Right now, I'm in two guilds (one on my Hero, and another on my occasionally played assassin), and I enjoy all the people that I am friends with. Without knowing any of them, I wouldn't be able to go to Zakum or CWPQ as often as I do.
The only reason I would have for leaving a guild is if I'm unhappy in it to the point where the good of staying doesn't outweigh the bad. If I were to leave Oasis at this point, I don't know what I would do, since I don't have enough buddy list space.
I've never really left a guild before. The first one I left disbanded the day after, anyway, but I had something similar happen before. Polaris used to be in my guild alliance, and I was good friends with a lot of people from there. However, they left guild alliance because of various reasons, and they felt like a second guild to me, so I did feel pretty bad (although probably not as bad as some people from there, lol). Anyway, then my buddy list got filled up a bit, then I got my mule into Polaris.
