I like to be in a guild because I feel a good guild really enhances my mapling experience...well my guildies are a big reason I'm still playing (along with my BL lol) ^^ The most important factor for me is the people. I guess sometimes I see it as my extended BL, but it's nice to have a group of people to chat with, train with, boss with, help each other out, etc. With levelling, I also came to prefer to a strong enough guild to do many of the things in Maple that should be possible at my level.
I haven't been in many guilds, but each time I've left one, I felt absolutely horrible. I did feel like I was ditching some friends, but most of the people I was close with I kept on BL anyway, so I guess I wasn't really ditching. Usually I left because of a combination of reasons including the guild dying, personal reasons, changes in a direction that wasn't what I wanted (the guild basically acquired an entirely different feel that I did not like). In the end, if you are unhappy in your guild enough that it's not quite so much fun to play the game anymore...why stay?
