An example could be Zakum sealing lightning attack. Smokescreen protects you from the attack and therefore also against the sealing.
I'm pretty sure I saw something about it mentioned on SP before. That mostly all the seals/stuns/dispels were caused by attacks except for either the Geists or Paps skills.

So as long as there is -any- form from attack that hits you, smokescreen cancels it when you're in the Smoke in the party of the Shadower that casts it.
