Why is Maple so popular?

i first started maple because it was 2D. Easier control and better graphics.
For some reason, i always get lost in a 3D game.

I always get turned off by how glitchy graphics can be in 3d. A limb can fall off, at the right angle you might see beyond a wall, it's sometimes possible to go out of the map, etc.
