Boy this is hard. I mean, if they go eat instead of going to the gas station, while they may avoid problems, Nicholas' plan might progress and get worse, or it could be going as he planned and perhaps he didn't expect Felix. If Felix and Melanie head to the gas station, they'll encounter the problem, BUT, and there is a but, he'll know that Nicholas is bad instead of having to find out later, when Nicholas' plan could be complete.
