Kay, this is a dumb noob question. I know Slingers need high level guns to do good damage, and not many equips can be scrolled for STR, so permanent STRless is probably a bad idea.

But now that pirate Maple weapons are out, should Slingers start out STRless and add STR later on, like a thief might, or add STR at the beginning to help with melee (SSK) leveling in first job, like an archer might?

I'm thinking the latter, but I don't know.

Melee levelling on archers is an outdated concept from back when people balked at paying a couple thousand mesos a level to use arrows. SSK's damage with a gun is just low. It's still based on dex. Unless you mean using a spear to level. I wouldn't, really. It's going to make you weaker once you start using a gun and the first 30 levels take almost no time at all anyway.

You can go STRless until about level 80 or 90, if you can get your hands on good Maple guns. I don't think the extra damage will make a significant difference, but it's up to you.
