I call MB (Mortal Blow).
As I recall, when MB's autokill activates while the mob is at, say, 30% HP left, the game only accredits you to 70% of the damage, as if the other 30% was dealt by someone else (except there is no one else to share that exp with, so it just disappears).
HH would be an interesting case of this. I imagine it might go like this:
- You cast HH
- Monster's HP is set to 1
- Mage casts ultimate and kills monster, gets the 1 HP share of experience
- HH doesn't count as damage so you get no experience
From what you're saying, though, it doesn't seem to happen all the time, so there might be something else involved too.
