The EXP curve was never really much of a challenge, but only a testament of being able to handle the immense amount of time necessary to get through it.

Well, I don't recall ever hearing about other people being in charge of when people can train, level, and quit, so just leave them alone as they be. You don't lose anything, as they're in charge of their own characters, as you are with your own.
Ironically, I see similar arguments made in games in general when they decide to make it easier. Point is, whenever they make games easier, the people that already did those things usually have nothing to lose. They're not making you do those over again at the easier rate. They're just making it less time-consuming for others to do so, and this has been quite a trend in MS for a long-while, with the introduction of things such as NLC and Leafre. (In-terms of training spots, and the NLC potions.)
