HAY U KNOW WHERE SHE'S GOAN, BUT NOPE NOPE CANT LET THE CHARACTER HAVE THAT OPTION.
Personally, I feel like it might actually be better to have this in a limited perspective. I'd think you could still create tension throughout even without the slap-in-the-face FUUUUUUUUUUU things we get to see. I mean, after reading that, would anyone really choose the second option? (I don't think it'd be a popular choice regardless, with the way we've been going, but by including that part about her actually leaving and Felix just not being unable to find her is sorta the death of that choice for.. probably everyone. The first one is also sorta ruled out since we all (again, judging by the recent responses) wouldn't choose to simply ignore the fact that she left with another person. If you had left that part out, there could be valid reasoning for coming back to where Felix was, i.e. Melanie wouldn't just leave her shirt there, she's bound to return eventually.
'Course, this is still all up to you. Just can't keep my trap shut about some things. <_<; Either way its still an interesting story.

Can't very well ignore the fact that we know where she is, now can we?
I agree. Including information that Felix can't know to influence our judgement is mean.
