Just like the reverse of the chaos scrolls dropping price... I'll wager people are pre-empting (and overestimating) the inflation and so causing an inflation because of hype, with people buying them because they still think they'll inflate more...
After a while they should drop back. I wonder what people will do if we don't get maker next patch? Try to sustain the ridiculous prices or let them drop to midway between their old price and their estimated value...
