They have links in their forum, they have a big flashing 10 commandments right on the main site. They have alerts every 5 minutes telling you not to do stupid things like share your account. They have NPCs repeating this warning the minute you get to Southperry and Lith Harbor.
And people still do every single thing anyone with an ounce of common sense tells them not to.
This is like abstinence only education in America - Telling people not to do stupid stuff doesn't stop them from doing it. The item locks are like condoms - Protection against moments of weakness becoming a lingering nightmare.
The only difference is you can actually get condoms for free in many situations.
The standard thing for a company to do is to code a bunch of tools that track the transfer of items. If a person has been hacked or scammed, the person files a report about the theft, and employees of the company investigate the situation, BAN the fuucker, and return the stolen goods to the owner. This seems impossible in Maple because Nexon sits on its ass because it collects money not having to do it, but it is completely standard in other games of this sort.
