History class...ouch. I was in public school, in Canada, when Kennedy was shot. We were sent home at noon, and given the rest of the day off. I can't think of anything/anyone who could create the same impact today, as his death did then. It was a different world, and respect for leaders was something that was ingrained into us.

I vaguely remember about the throat incision. Even though he was dead at the scene, because he was the President of the USA, they did things as if he was alive, as if there was some small chance of saving him. I think also, they had to be ready to make Johnson? president as soon as Kennedy was declared dead? Sorry, it was a long time ago, and the memory is vague.

Even at the time of his death, there was much conjecture as to whether their was a conspiracy or not. Not only was he shot, but the assassin was also killed, all within a very short period of time. The home movies, etc, were all that was on the television. I can't begin to tell you how many times I watched the "grassy knoll" clip.

I can't help thinking that if I, a school child, felt they were trying to hide things, then it must have been pretty obvious at the time. The things we were seeing, and the things they were saying, never quite added up. I have read much about the assassination since. I have learned that the most famous words he ever said, and which were, and still are, commonly accredited to him, were stolen from another author. "Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what you can do for your country." These words were written by Kahlil Gibran, in a book called the Prophit. And yet, Kennedy is given credit for them on momentos of the time.

Personaly, I do believe there was a conspiracy. I think JFK had too much influence, too much power, and that certain people were threatened by this.
Kennedy had a charm that had people putting him on a pedestal. He was young, good looking, beautiful family and out to fix the world. When he was shot, the whole world mourned.
