Would you quit because of Elemental Wands/Staves?

draconius Wrote:Stop stalking loddlaen Goggleemoticon Most bishops go for whichever one is cheaper. I see more bishops wearing the purple and the yellow one, but of course this is only scratching the surface of the actual population.

People wouldn't stop gaching, per se, but there's a difference between gaching 100 tickets and gaching 200 tickets. You gach 200 tickets because the increased chance that you might get an ele wand which will sell to cover the cost of your run, with the remaining scrolls/etc. sold off as profit. When you remove that impetus, people don't go on massive gaching runs in the hops that they can sell to a wealthy bishop/archmage because the demand simply isn't there.

Since you're so privy to saying that most bishops use 5 and 7, the point would be that the demand will go down. If archmages were really as rich as bishops (again, lets entertain the hypothetical that seems to drive the rabid anti-bishopness here), then the prices would be fine the way they are, but the goal here was to lower the costs, in which case obviously if the costs aren't low now, they would be later on.

Finally, though, is another major point that gets buried in all this rhetoric; bishops were never informed that these weapons would reduce their damage. It is a very big stretch to say that the bishops that are on now represent the population as a whole. Sure, there were insinuations that these were designed for archmages, but nothing specifically said ANYTHING about bishops not being able to use them. That's almost synonymous to assuming that the icy wand was meant for ice mages too (the lvl 21 one). Moost people on this board and elsewhere can't even get the numbering right, and the only real context clue is a seemingly arbitrary coloring scheme that they follow. If they had fixed them from the very beginning, then fine. It's fair to say that this would happen. If they had TOLD US that they would reduce holy damage from the very beginning (without just saying something would be fixed, and without assuming we all know that holy is an element since people still like debating even that), then fine, bishops have no excuse. However, when they intentionally decided NOT to tick the penalty for bishops, then the assumption was that bishops could use them too. I am tired of this vitriol being spiilled here claiming that its a bishop's fault that Nexon's misled them. Not everyone parses the data. Not everyone knows whats going on in other servers. In fact, not everyone OUGHT to know about this stuff, nor is it an obligation on a bishop's part to know these facts about other MSes and how they implement things before purchasing their weapon. We are given what we are given by Nexon, and Nexon didn't specify anything, leading to the situation we have right now. This is the perspective and likely central point you will see with any bishop arguing about this issue, and its one that makes responses like "you deserved it" or any variation thereof extremely callous and selfish.

I can't believe you're even bothering with this pathetic poll. Then again, if you do find this even marginally indicative of a general mood, then I wish you the best of luck in higher level math.

What does a poll have to do with higher level math? AP Stat, maybe, but I have no plans on taking that.

Let's go off on the more accurate assumption that most bishops buy wands 6 and 8. Their prices go down, and 5 and 7 stay high.

So wands 6 and 8 go down to 200m, and wands 5 and 7 go down to 700 since there are still some bishops who use them and they'll deflate a bit. Now, people have half the insentive to go out and get gacha tickets because there's only half the chance they'll get a really expensive item. When this happens, wands become more rare and the supply goes down, causing a rise in the prices, even with less bishops buying them. Then, the prices rise to 1b wands 5 and 7 and 500m wands 6 and 8. When people see that the prices go up, they'll go out and gacha to get more wands. Since the rate is still pitifully low, the prices don't go down much again. In this way, supply keeps rolling in and Nexon doesn't lose money.

And I agree, it would be a little unfair for Nexon to put in the .75% reduction all of a sudden. However, if Bishops were given fair warning, say a few months, then some would sell them right away and get a decent price on them while others would hold on to them until the reduction kicked in, meaning the smart Bishops would have gotten their money back for the wand.

Another way to do it would be if KMS made elemental weapons that are actually a part of the main weapon line. Like, in the 130 set make an elemental variation of the staff. In my spare time when I get bored of video games, I've thought up what I think would work.
As an example for AM weapons,

130 ice staff
133 luk required
150 MA
+20% damage for ice
+10% damage for lightning
-75% damage to other elements
On level up:
Primary element up 1-3%, secondary up 1-2%, MA up 2-3, INT up 1-2
6 levels
And there's one for each element. For Bishops:

130 holy wand
133 luk required
145 MA
+12% damage for holy
-75% damage for other elements
On Level up:
Holy up 1-2%, MA up 2-3, int up 1-2
6 levels
I intentionally made the holy wand weaker because of a firm belief of mine that Bishops should be weaker. However, I added a weapon that actually gives a holy bonus so Bishops aren't left out cold.

I also made the elements increase on the higher weapons to be at least 1% greater than the 130 wands because of another belief of mine that lukless shouldn't be much stronger than luk Poast
