Would it bother me in the slightest if they were 30 mesos on the street corner now? No. I got mine months ahead of the majority of the population and paid a premium for that, that's just economics.
I paid 200m for blizzard 30 when it's going for 20m now. 400m for MW20... these things happen. Anyone who whines about it would've found something else to whine about anyhow.
Most of the complaint here isn't about price - It's about availability of these. Because an extra 2/3rds the magician classes can technically use them right now for mattack alone, they're that much harder to come by. Even people who have a billion plus mesos can't necessarily get one because they're in the hands of people they weren't made for.
If/when Nexon fixes this bishops can turn around and sell them for extortionary level prices for all I care - having more of them available at all is better than now.
Rarely will you find events in economics where someone's entire savings disappears like that, nor will you find policy makers stupid enough to consider doing this at considerable risk to consumer consumption. The 1Bill price tag on Ele Wand 7 is principally the reason why people will be willing to gach 200tickets at Mushroom Shrine in the hope/assumption that they'll be able to make the money back with the wand and turn a profit with the scrolls. When the Wand is worth less, people will gach less tickets, and guess who's left without substantial sales? I don't understand why archmages on this board are so quick to dismiss the incentive these wands provide for gaching when its clear that when ANYTHING comes with a 1Bill prize, that's enough to lure many people into spending money to try and get it.
The point of Bribery's post was not to say that this is an initial high price on wands, but that this is a STATIC high price on wands. This is an end game weapon, and thus the standard is and ought to be to command a high price for said weapon. MW, Genesis, Blizzard, are all commodities where even a casual observer would consider to eventually go down in value, not owing itself necessarily to the gach boxes event. As more people are able to HT, more people will find the skills, and eventually Nexon may well have just opened another cave. In Ele wands, the trend is just much slower. I doubt any bishops would complain if their ele wands were 500M or less in some 2-3 years, because that's a reasonable trendline to see the prices go towards. These things happen to skillbooks because they're consumable, but notice how, while Nexon claimed that Ele wand 3 would drop from the second gach event that it actually didn't.
Primary weapons of end game value are omitted from spontaneous changes in value (through deflation at least) which is consistent in the past as well as the present. When Evil wings were the "end game" item, they were some 60-70M apiece (that translates to, what, 800M nowadays after the hacker epidemics inflated everything?) clean, and a crappy one would sell for 40 at the very least. Even when DRs and Kages came out, the price for EW was such that people would often be in the 10x before it was possible to purchase them. Nexon subsequently decided that the end game weapons at the time (kages and 'codars) ought to be worth more and EW worth less, and consequently made both drop solely from Zakum (which was hard to kill at the time and when Helms were 150-250M per) and a slew of trainable monsters drop EW and DR.
This philosophy carries on in this context as well, since this is the new end game weapon. You could argue supply and demand all you want, but the supply of EWand 6 and 8 aren't driving the prices up; its the demand from archmages themselves. If bishops had never purchased their 6 and 8 wands, do you think archmages would be able to afford them more, knowing that MSEA's prices are the same as ours? The talk about the supply being increased is also ridiculous. Everyone has an equitable chance at purchasing an EWand when it becomes available to the public, with archmages especially more covetous of purchasing one than bishops. Freeing up supply in this context is only serving to artificially deflate the prices from what they are in other servers, which would suggest an immense selfishness emanating from the archmage community. There are a bunch of these things for sale at any given moment, so I severely doubt its because of supply that so many threads end up spilling millions of words out over this debacle.
I also think that raising the gach rates for these is probably the best compromise solution to this problem. Bishops still get their 6 and 8 and archmages get cheaper wands. Nexon probably doesn't lose much either since demand increases as the price goes down (heck, why do you think the things are so expensive in the first place lol), and the wider market for that price range is going to be beneficial for them too. It's the only "win-win" situation I can think of, which would at least put mage weapons like ours relatively similar in price to the ones that other classes have >_>;;
