But I know a few AM's who have 2, one for when they use Ice attacks, one for lightning attacks.

Which is no different than what a lot of warriors do - a DPS weapon for bossing and a DPH weapon for training. Lightning and Poison weapons are extremely useful for AMs fighting Pap/Pianus, while Ice/Fire ones are great for training. If the detriment gets implemented, it really only makes sense for AMs to have 2 rather than any other class have 1.
