I was kinda hoping that the next batman movie would be from Batman Beyond...
It eventually went by the wayside in favor of an adaptation of Batman: Year One, which eventually came to be Batman Begins. I'm a fan of Beyond myself, but don't expect anything on it any time soon. It's basically limited to DCAU, and DCAU has been dead ever since JLU ended in '06. They could have brought back DCAU any time they wanted, but they decided to develop Superman Doomsday, Justice League: The New Frontier, Gotham Night, Wonder Woman, and a still-in-works Teen Titans film based on the Judas Contract arc. None of these recent DVD releases, or the ones in the works, are DCAU. If you were hoping to ever see Terry McGinnis ever again, I would tell you to go buy the DVDs and don't hold your breath. Not that a live action Batman Beyond would have been any good anyway.
I already posted about Dark Knight on another forum. I don't feel like typing my fanboyedness all over again, so I'll just post it as-is here, with some minor changes for formatting. There are spoilers laden throughout, so beware.

In general, great movie. Joker was best ever. Everything was great.
WandererWillow Wrote:...from WHAT!?I'm pretty sure that the majority of folks who appreciated the DCAU take on things, were satisfied with the direction Batman Beyond went. It was rather successful, and did win at least one Emmy I know of. Lasted for 3 seasons and one straight-to-video film. Not quite the 4 year run, with a disjointed 3 feature film release that the original series enjoyed, but certainly nothing to scoff at either. It is a different direction, yes, but that was the point from the beginning. It wasn't just "hey this is Batman in the future", it was "this is a new character taking on the mantle of Batman". The idea of the world always needing a Batman isn't exactly a unique idea, and having someone take up the identity in the future is a natural response to it, I would say. Also, I just love Will Friedle's voice, and his Terry McGinnis is one of the best voice works he has done. You may know him better as Eric on Boy Meets World though, see my avatar.
Ok, you must not realize exactly how Batman really is and was meant to be. Batman Beyond was their attempt at pleasing the younger crowd like the original Batman: The Animated Series did. Sadly, it didn't come close in my mind. This Batman and Batman Begins are the TRUE Batman...the vengeful, dark, sadistic sides of him. The Joker was what he was truly meant to be...same with Two-Face. If you want the idea of the true Batman, read The Killing Joke.
I'd have been pissed if it was from Batman Beyond...the way they're doing alot of movies recently, this would just be another on that pile of pomegranate. They're trying to please the masses instead of sticking to the original story (which, obviously, pleased the masses enough for them to want to make a movie) they make it into something that can be loved by everyone. This was the problem with Batman Forever and...ugh...Batman and Robin. They don't want to go back to that "friendly days of Batman" mindset. They wanted to present him as they truly is.
Valarius Wrote:Batman was really never meant to be portrayed as a hero anyway. His intent from the start was of an almost criminal mindset. Not exactly. He's a vigilante, but the noble mindset has always been there. He is not a murderer, he is not a thief. He has a rigid set of rules; this in itself is why he becomes a target for many of the more insane members of his rogues gallery.
Lmao@newage batman spinoffs.
