Want to pick up something new.

Okay, so as the title suggests, I want some new anime to try out. I can't read Japanese, so I sometimes miss good series just because I don't know what the translation of the title is. (Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien was a good one that I almost missed.)

So I turn to the masses. Every fan has usually seen something that someone else hasn't, so I'm hoping for some suggestions. I want something obviously good, but it doesn't have to be the best ever, as you can never really say one is the best, just better than crap.
A mindpineapple is fine by me, as is gore, etc. I just don't want to go through anime lists on wiki or animenfo.com and afterwards wishing I had hours of my life back.
