Roads, your sig art reminds me of Hepcats, by Martin Wagner. I liked those comics a lot and was sad to see the series just peter out. Ever read them?
(Edit: Am I the only one for whom the spoiler in the OP totally doesn't expand into anything? It's like it's wrapped around a null....)
