I'm pretty dang good at it too, though not good enough at PA or freestyle to participate in tourneys and such. I can pass most 9 foot songs on singles, and a handful of 9 footers on doubles. Yay doubles!
A lot of my friends that I still hang out with today are people I met at the arcade playing DDR a good what... 7-8 years ago? Huzzah for nerdiness.
Back when my local arcade was still worth going to, we used to session on DM and GF all the time. It was awesome possum.
Rock Band (though not Bemani) is my rhythm game of choice now. But DDR will always have a special place in my heart. Actually just tonight I had dinner with my DDR buddies and one of them pulled out a newspaper article from back in the day about the DDR craze (which featured a really goofy photo of him playing... aah good times.) OMG I FOUND THE ARTICLE ONLINE! link!
Yeah that's my buddy looking like a total goofball on the DDR machine. And so is the asian kid staring straight at the camera on the left. "Reese Chapman," who is quoted in the article, is my cousin. Man, those were some good times.
