I'm stunned.. it actually worked!! I had to dig a little bit deeper though and uninstall the procguard.sys legacy driver in the device manager..

right click my computer, go to properties and the Hardware tab. click on Device Manager and when it comes up, navigate to View > Show hidden devices. under "Non-Plug and Play Drivers", find procguard.sys. right click, uninstall, then reboot. should work.
