Same speed, same distance, higher damage... why, I think that means more DPS. (Except for paladins, 2h would also make their blast hit farther, another plus.)
If you don't believe me, do the math. It's mostly thanks to Apple + SI. Without a speed advantage, lunchboxes aren't nearly as good. And the extra 100 w.att from an apple drives a wedge between the damage of a 1h and 2h, SE only expands it further. Last time I did the math, I think a Hero just needs a 13x? 2h sword to outdamage a perfect LB + 20 attack shield (Assuming same gloves/cape/shoes/pendant. Though, the more attack derived from gloves/cape/shoes/pendant, the lower the 2h sword needs to be in order to outdamage the 1h). A 13x Dragon Claymore is much easier/cheaper to get than a 143 LB + 20 att Maple Shield.
Then why haven't i seen any 13x Dragon Claymore around if they are easier / cheaper to get? I
t's true that u need a 13x att 2h to outdamage a perfect LB + 20 att shield, but you forgot to mention that the "x" needs to be really high... I had a 139 att ST and comparing it to a 144 LB + 20 att shield, with SI and Apple, the ranges were 12500 for ST and 12350 for LB or something really close to that.
Sadly, to do that, you would have to live using apples everytime you train and having a SI mule with you all the time (that also leeches your exp...) which in my opinion is not worthy.
