A possible mage fix
#20
FelixTM Wrote:LIES!

My I/L AM uses an elemental staff, and the fast speed is very helpful for breaking boxes in APQ bonus.

Erm, no, not really. You can only hit boxes at a set speed, you a faster weapon won't make a difference here. I've tested the full range of weapon speeds and am speaking from experience. It is actually faster to attack, stop for a BRIEF amount of time, and repeat, otherwise you run the risk of making a useless swing.

You aren't saying that the speed of the weapon used should effect magic attack speed are you? Because that would be rediculous, in my opinion.

Here's my two cents:

~I think arch mages should have higher base magic attack for their ultimate. This makes alot of sense because bishops have a higher base attack, as a support class. It would make Elemental Amplification worth Double Mp usage, while also making it an option. Arch mages shouldn't do less damage than bishops without a skill that makes them use double mp.

~Regarding the single target dps: Arch mages should not do alot of single target damage. However, the current damage is completely weak compared to any other class. Arch mages should at least do about 35k per cl/para at lvl 30 (without mw 20/ godly equips/ ele help). I think with this change, a/m would be a bit useful at bosses without having to dc everyone. Bosses should include at least one from each class in order to be able to defeat it.

With these changes, they wouldn't have needed elemental weapons. I have an elemental wand. I love it, but I don't think it should be necessary for an a/m to have one (which it is).

As far as the luk/lukless issues go: Nexon will NEVER change that. They get too much money from ap resets. No one wants to remake a mage when they could just buy ap resets over time. Believe me... if they changed the luk/lukless issue now, hell would surely break loose.

Many of these problems lie within the original creation of maplestory itself and is not fixable.

 O.T.

So...let me get this straight. You want Archmages to not only have better mob attacks, but far better single target damage than a Polearm DrK, as well as attacking a lot faster? Sorry, no. Polearms are low-tier single target DPS too, perhaps even lower than most AMs, esp where elemental weapons are concerned, and we are far surpassed in mobbing capability by them. There is no reason to make us completely dominated in every aspect of the game.
